Wait Till Next Version To Buy The iPhone
September 2nd, 2007 | by Anil |There many news about the unlocks of the famous Apple’s iPhone and news about launch of iPhone in other parts of the world, there’s an excellent review of iPhone and explains why to wait for next version.
According to the review, there are some features lacking in $600 iPhone which are available in $50 phone:
- MMS
- Video recording
- Custom ringtones
- Mass storage
- Fully functioning Bluetooth with stereo audio streaming
- Voice dialing when you’re using a car kit
- Sending contact info to other people
- Instant messaging
- Sending an SMS to more than one recipient at a time
Look, I’m not saying wait for version 2.0. You don’t need new hardware to love the phone; version 1.1 should do it. Wait until Apple updates the software. That was a hard to write, since I’m thumbing through my own iPhone like a teenager with his first Playboy.
I didn’t have the chance to check out an iPhone yet as I am not from USA. Anybody of you there checked out the features, please send in your comments.

I think the current version of iPhone is cool. No need to wait for a long time just for minor features..

I Agree with SUD! The iPhone is good and I really enjoy it! I do not see what the big fuss is over all the hacks and stuff! You like it, buy one, You don’t then don’t buy one!

Adrian,
Yes, you perfectly make a sense.
If any of the features it lacking are very important to you, then you may need to wait, otherwise just go ahead and buy it..
The title may be misleading, but the review isn’t forcing you to wait. Check out the features, think and decide.

You are right Anil, the thing that I do not like is the lack of MMS and the sending SMS to more than one receivers. Besides these it does look like a great phone. I think everyone expected to much from the iPhone.

@Adrian:
Yes, I think there is too much expectation on the first version itself. It may evolve better in the coming versions!

There are lots of things the iPhone could do that it doesn’t do now and if those things were done right they would make the iPhone even better. That’s not disputed.
Anyone who uses an iPhone, however, knows that it does the limited things it does very well. I’ve used Ipaqs and blackberries and you name it before, none of them come close to the iPhone in terms of ease of use.
Ease of use is what makes the iPhone so special. This is largely down to the touch-screen, but Apple to their credit have also put a lot of thought into the functionality and just about everything you want, whether you are emailing or browsing YouTube, is right there.
I can see a touch screen revolution coming and can easily imagine the day when desktop computers incorporate it in the way the iPhone has and the mouse is rendered somewhat redundant. You can’t help but think of Tom Cruise in the film Minority Report … waw!
Incidentally, we have a great review of the iPhone, more impartial than I am, on our website at http://www.appleofyouriphone.co.uk/iphone-revolution.htm
I think the page is called iPhone revolution if you come in through the homeage…
